SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) — Local, state and federal investigators are searching a North Carolina property where a 15-year-old girl lived before she disappeared nearly two years ago.
Rowan County Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. John Sifford says Erica Lynn Parsons' adoptive parents, Sandy and Casey Parsons, have said the teen went to live with her biological grandmother in Asheville but authorities have determined that information isn't true.
Erica was 13 when she was last seen in November 2011. She was reported missing July 30 by her older adoptive brother.
Sifford says this type of search of the home in Salisbury is standard in such a case and people shouldn't read too much into it.
The couple spoke with reporters last week, saying they wanted to tell their side of the story. They have also hired an attorney.
