Stocks slip on a quiet day on Wall Street

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are ending lower after a quiet day of trading on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 46 points, or 0.3 percent, to 15,612 points Monday. The Dow is coming off of six weeks of gains.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell two points, or 0.2 percent, to 1,707.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite edged up three points, or 0.1 percent, to 3,612.

Apple, the biggest component of the Nasdaq index, rose 1.5 percent to $469.45 after news that President Barack Obama's administration prevented a ban on imports of some iPhones and iPads from taking effect.
