SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Fire crews have combed a community park northwest of Los Angeles in search of clues after a July Fourth fireworks explosion injured dozens of revelers.

The Ventura County Star ( ) reports county fire officials finished their evidence-collecting Saturday from a Simi Valley park where some three dozen spectators were injured by shrapnel and flying debris.

A state fire investigator is due in town this week to collect more clues from the site and in nearby Ojai (OH'-hy), where a pyrotechnics operator was injured by a premature blast.

Fire and hospital officials said some of the injured had burns and shrapnel cuts while others were trampled on as the crowd rushed to safety.
