9/11 family members renew criticism of memorial

NEW YORK (AP) — Families of victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks are renewing their criticism of the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site.

On Sept. 10, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the land, reached an agreement with the foundation that operates the planned Sept. 11 museum.

The deal gives the foundation the land for the museum. In exchange, the Port Authority takes over the site of the former Deutsche Bank building.

Port Authority's executive director said at Thursday's monthly meeting that the deal doesn't change terms from a 2006 agreement.

Family members echoed previous complaints that the multimillion-dollar deal was made without public input.

Yonkers resident Sally Regenhard told board members that the land swap is illegal and that families will push for a congressional investigation.
