The first album Demi Lovato got was by her fellow "X Factor" judge, Britney Spears.
"I don't remember anything from it because I was so young," the 20-year-old winner for best video with a message said backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards. "I just remember holding it and thinking she's really pretty."
So what's it like working with her childhood idol?
"The fact that I'm getting to sit next to her for any reason in life is pretty incredible, let alone being on the same panel as her," Lovato said.
But the reality TV judge isn't offering any guidance to new "American Idol" judge Mariah Carey.
"I can't give any advice to Mariah Carey," Lovato said. "I think that would just be silly. I'm still new at judging myself, so I can't give anyone advice."
However, she does have a suggestion for a potential "Idol" judge to serve alongside Carey: "Who I would like to see on 'American Idol' is Nick Jonas."
