Stamp, envelope honor 'Mockingbird's' 50th

Fans in author Harper Lee's hometown lined up for a new envelope and stamp celebrating the 50th anniversary of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird."

About 100 people attended the unveiling Friday in Monroeville to buy the envelope and stamps, which were processed by the Postal Service to be collectors' items.

The artist Nicolosi, who designed the envelopes, was on hand to sign his work at the Monroe County Heritage Museum.

Museum Director Stephanie Rogers said the museum ordered 10,000 of the pictorial envelopes and hopes to raise about $80,000 to help the museum.

The book's author, Harper Lee, did not attend.
