Jury has Texas bleach injection deaths case

A former Texas nurse accused of killing five kidney dialysis patients by injecting them with bleach is still waiting for jurors to decide her fate.

Deliberations in the capital murder trial of Kimberly Clark Saenz (synz) were to resume Friday.

Jurors deliberated for more than five hours Thursday after closing arguments earlier in the day.

Angelina County District Attorney Clyde Herrington told jurors the five patients Saenz is accused of killing in April 2008 trusted her with their care but instead had their lives abruptly cut short by her.

Defense attorney Ryan Deaton told the jury Saenz is innocent and is being targeted by the clinic's owner for faulty procedures at the facility in Lufkin, about 125 miles northeast of Houston.

If convicted, she could face the death penalty.
