Study-abroad enrollment at Temple University's campus in Tokyo is rebounding from dips seen in the year after Japan's devastating earthquake and tsunami.
Officials say study-abroad numbers were down by about half in the fall semester following the crisis. They improved this spring, and may be back on track by summer.
Just over a year ago, Japan was rocked by a massive quake, deadly tidal wave and nuclear reactor meltdown. The disaster on March 11, 2011, killed more than 19,000 people and forced hundreds of thousands into temporary housing.
While Temple's Tokyo campus is about 230 miles from the epicenter, the quake severely jolted students and staff, both physically and mentally.
Classes were suspended but eventually resumed about three weeks later.
