Authorities say two people were killed and a third was injured in three separate accidents on California mountain slopes.
The owner of China Peak Mountain Resort northeast of Fresno says a 30-year-old snowboarder was killed Sunday after falling head first in an open ski area. Tim Cohee said about 5 feet of snow fell in the Sierra National Forest over the weekend.
In Northern California, a skier fell into a hole created by an underflow of water at the Sierra-at-Tahoe resort. The El Dorado County Sheriff's department said the victim was 54-year-old Yiwei Hu of Gold River.
A spokesman for Kirkwood Mountain Resort said a skier was taken to a hospital after being injured in a small avalanche. Michael Dalzell said he didn't know the extent of that person's injury.
