Prosecutors say bail has been set at $1 million for a man accused of driving his sport utility vehicle through a fence and onto a runway at Philadelphia International Airport, causing an approaching plane to pull up quickly.
The city district attorney's office says 24-year-old Kenneth Mazik is charged with crimes including driving under the influence, assault, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering, fleeing police, criminal mischief, defiant trespass and disorderly conduct.
Mazik is from Chadds Ford, 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia. Prosecutors say he was arraigned Monday and ordered held in lieu of bail pending a March 12 hearing.
Authorities say Thursday's airport events were unrelated to terrorism but the SUV caused pilots and air traffic controllers to scramble and affected dozens of aircraft.
Defense attorney Emily Ngee (nee) has declined to comment.
