2 plead guilty in RI extortion cases

Two Rhode Island men have admitted to their roles in an extortion case involving Providence-area strip clubs and a used-car salesman.

A spokesman for federal prosecutors said Richard Bonafiglia pleaded guilty Thursday to racketeering conspiracy and acknowledged being an associate of the New England mob. Prosecutors say Bonafiglia was a bouncer at the Cadillac Lounge while the mafia was collecting protection payments from the club.

Raymond "Scarface" Jenkins pleaded guilty to extortion conspiracy. Prosecutors say he collected $20,000 from a used-car salesman last fall in an extortion scheme.

Alfred "Chippy" Scivola (skee-VOH'lah) Jr. was scheduled to plead guilty to racketeering conspiracy, but his hearing was not held. He has signed a plea agreement that says he participated in the strip club plot and was a mob member.
