Ex-Marine indicted in CA homeless stabbing deaths

A former Marine has been indicted on charges of murdering six people in an Orange County killing spree including four homeless men and his friend's mother and brother.

Prosecutors said 23-year-old Itzcoatl (itz-KWAH'-tuhl) Ocampo was indicted Thursday on six felony counts of murder with special circumstances for multiple murders and lying in wait and sentencing enhancements for use of a knife.

If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of life without parole.

Prosecutors say Ocampo murdered four homeless men in a killing spree that terrorized Orange County in December and January.

Authorities say he also killed the relatives of high school classmate Eder Herrera. Prosecutors initially charged Herrera with the murders but released him after obtaining new evidence.

Ocampo will be arraigned Tuesday. A message was left for his attorney.
