Cops: Teen broke windows at home of lost Maine tot

Police say a Maine teenager has confessed to smashing windows at the house where a toddler was reported missing in December.

Nineteen-year-old Jeremy Hanson, of Clinton, was summonsed Monday night on charges of criminal mischief and violating conditions of release.

Police Chief Joseph Massey tells the Morning Sentinel ( http://bit.ly/yvOcRx) that an officer questioned Hanson based on an anonymous tip and that Hanson confessed to smashing the windows of Ayla Reynolds' home with a baseball bat on Feb. 3. Hanson isn't a suspect in 20-month-old Ayla's disappearance, which was reported Dec. 17 by her father, Justin DiPietro.

Steve Bourget, an attorney hired by DiPietro's family to speak for them, says his clients have cooperated with police. He says there were no drugs or alcohol in the house the night Ayla disappeared.
