Police in Paradise Valley, Ariz., have classified the case of two bodies found in a burning home as a homicide.
The bodies were found Monday morning after police found a vehicle registered to the home's owners on fire 20 miles away.
Police Chief John Bennett says the bodies were bound and burned beyond recognition.
The home is owned by Lawrence and Glenna Shapiro. Police say the couple in their 70s could be the victims but authorities are waiting for results of the autopsies being conducted Wednesday.
Police also don't know whether the victims were killed by being burned or had been killed before the fire.
Lawrence Shapiro had a 45-year career as a gastroenterologist. The Arizona Republic reports he and his wife actively supported many civic organizations and charities.
