Former Astronaut Mark Kelly says everyday heroes who emerged from a deadly Tucson shooting one year ago show that alongside human frailty, there is also strength.
The husband of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords named each of the victims who died at a candlelight vigil Sunday evening.
As for those injured, he said they have shown that healing is possible.
The most recent example, he says, was when his wife led the crowd just moments before in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Giffords sat onstage in a red scarf and listened, nodding and smiling. As music played, she swayed to the beat and mouthed some of the words to the song.
