LA Times hires Pulitzer-winning cartoonist Horsey

The Los Angeles Times has hired a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist.

Editor Russ Stanton said in a note to staff Monday that David Horsey will jump into the 2012 presidential campaign with a visit to South Carolina, which holds its Republican primary on Jan. 21. He will provide cartoons and commentary for the Times' "Top of the Ticket" blog.

Horsey's wins were with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which ceased print publication in 2009. He won Pulitzers in 1999 and 2003.

Since then, Horsey provided cartoons for and Hearst newspapers.

He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle.
