JFK's hearse to be sold at Dallas auction

An auction house specializing in collectible classic cars plans to auction the hearse used to carry the body of President John F. Kennedy from a Dallas hospital to Air Force One.

In a statement issued Monday, Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. of Scottsdale, Ariz., announced a Jan. 21 auction of the 1964 Cadillac hearse.

O'Neal Funeral Home of Dallas used the hearse to bring a bronze casket to the hospital on Nov. 22, 1963, the day of Kennedy's assassination, then carried the casket containing the president's body to Love Field.

Earlier this year, Barrett-Jackson auctioned the ambulance used to carry the slain president's body from Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base to the Bethesda Naval Hospital.
