Hundreds gathered for a public service to mourn a slain Georgia girl.
The gathering for Jorelys Rivera at First Baptist Church in Canton Saturday followed a private family service at a local funeral home. WSB-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/uydBDX) the church was packed for a service that ended with the release of doves.
The Rivera family plans to bury Jorelys' body in Puerto Rico.
Saturday's service came after a Friday night vigil that drew several hundred people to a local park to light candles in memory of the 7-year-old.
She was last seen Dec. 2 outside her apartment complex. Her body was found Monday. She had been sexually assaulted, stabbed and beaten to death.
A 20-year-old apartment complex maintenance worker, Ryan Brunn, is being held without bond on a murder charge.
