Mass. man wants new trial in Obama-inspired fire

A white man convicted of burning a predominantly black church in Massachusetts to protest President Barack Obama's 2008 election wants a new trial, saying he has found evidence backing his alibi.

A lawyer for Michael Jacques (jayks) has filed a motion for a new trial in federal court in Springfield. Attorney Lori Levinson says new evidence found on Jacques' family's computer shows he uploaded a photograph onto his MySpace account at his parents' house on Election Night. Jacques says he was there all night.

Jacques faces 10 to 60 years in prison. He is set to be sentenced Dec. 22.

Prosecutors say Jacques and two friends who pleaded guilty burned down the Macedonia Church of God in Christ.

No one was injured in the fire. The church has been rebuilt.
