Authorities say fire from a natural gas line explosion destroyed three houses and a barn in a rural area of southern Ohio.
Jacksonville senior firefighter George Pallo (PAL'-'loh) says two of the destroyed homes in Homer Township near Glouster were occupied at the time. Pallo says one woman was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
People as far as 12 miles away felt the explosion and heard the roar of the fire, which was reported around 8:30 a.m.
Houston-based Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. says the rupture was in its interstate natural gas transmission line. Pallo says the company isolated the pipeline segment involved and shut the gas off.
He says flames continued into the afternoon.
The state fire marshal's office is among the agencies investigating to determine the cause.
