The wife of civil rights leader the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth made it to her husband's funeral after being injured in a fall the night before.
The crowd at the funeral stood and applauded Monday as Sephira Shuttlesworth was brought into the sanctuary.
She was wheeled into Faith Chapel Christian Center to her husband's casket, where she stood to view his body before leaning down to kiss him.
Her spokeswoman, Malena Cunningham, said Sephira Shuttlesworth spent Sunday night in St. Vincent's Hospital and was released Monday. She fell Sunday as she left the stage at a panel discussion at the Birmingham Museum of Art.
Cunningham said Sephira Shuttlesworth was a little sore but wasn't going to let a fall "stop her from giving a proper farewell to her husband."
