Authorities: Ala. woman threatened governor

Authorities say an Alabama woman threatened the governor's life over the state's tough law cracking down on illegal immigration.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports ( that 38-year-old Tiffany R. Morales is accused of calling Gov. Robert Bentley's office Sept. 29 and saying a member of his staff: "Tell the governor he has a bullet with his name on it."

Morales, who says her fiance is an illegal immigrant, was arrested Oct. 1 and charged with threatening certain state officers, a felony. She could spend up to five years in jail if convicted.

Her lawyer said at a hearing Friday that Morales has medical problems and a nervous condition and shouldn't be considered a threat.

The judge denied Morales' request to reduce her bond and ordered that she undergo a mental evaluation.
