A Marine squad leader who was convicted of leading troops to kill an Iraqi civilian will get a temporary release from prison to witness the birth of his second child.

The North County Times reports ( that Sgt. Larry Hutchins will be allowed to be with his wife Reyna as she gives birth through induced labor Monday.

Hutchins is currently serving an 11-year sentence at the prison facility at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

In 2006, Hutchins led an eight-man squad that kidnapped an Iraqi man from his home, marched him into a ditch and killed him.
