Clinton hails women Nobel Peace Prize winners

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says this year's Nobel Peace Prize recipients show the power women have to make the world a better place.

Clinton, one of America's most powerful women, congratulated Yemeni protester Tawakkul Karman, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Liberian human rights campaigner Leymah Gbowee for winning the honor on Friday.

She said the "unflinching courage, strength and leadership of these women to build peace, advance reconciliation and defend the rights of fellow citizens in their own countries provide inspiration for women's rights and human progress everywhere."

By choosing three women for the award, Clinton said the Nobel committee recognized the role women are playing around the world to build peace and end conflicts.
