Catholic school children to attend procession

Almost 7,000 Catholic school children will line New Orleans streets to watch as a horse-drawn carriage bearing the body of Archbishop Philip Hannan makes its way to St. Louis Cathedral in the city's French Quarter.

Seventy-three schools so far have informed the archdiocese that they will bring students to witness the funeral cortege Wednesday.

Hannan, who delivered the eulogy after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, served as New Orleans' archbishop for more than three decades.

He also officiated at a quiet reburial of two Kennedy infants in 1964 so their bodies could be near their father's in Arlington National Cemetery. And in 1968, Hannan traveled again from New Orleans to give the graveside eulogy for Sen. Robert. F. Kennedy.
