Officials say a central Florida woman has died from injuries she received while trying to train a mule to pull a cart.
The sheriff's office in Volusia County reports that 51-year-old Kimberly Smith was riding with the animal's owner, 71-year-old David Cram, in a cart behind the mule Saturday evening when something spooked it. Authorities say the mule ran off, eventually causing the cart to overturn.
Both Smith and Cram were rushed to a Daytona Beach hospital, where Smith later died.
Authorities say Cram remained hospitalized but there was no immediate report on the extent of his injuries.
