Police say a Forest Grove teenager loaded a shotgun that went off behind his friend's head, and killing him.
Initially 18-year-old Cody James Ward told police that he thought the shotgun was unloaded when he pointed at his friend on Sept. 17. Ward told them the shotgun just went off.
A day later he changed his story and said he had loaded it. Ward is facing second-degree manslaughter charges in the death of 15-year-old Trenton Joseph "T.J." Lester.
Court documents say the two teens were playing with the shotgun before the shooting happened.
After the shooting, Ward called police. Also present during the shooting was Lester's girlfriend, who was splattered with blood.
