In some versions of a Sept. 26 story about the Cherokee Nation's ongoing tribal election, The Associated Press reported erroneously that a federal judge found the tribe in contempt of court for missing deadlines to notify about 1,200 descendants of black slaves once owned by the tribe that they could vote and to get some of them absentee ballots. No such ruling was issued.
