Police: Men made bomb threat in La. to rob bank

Police in southern Louisiana say two men called in a bomb threat to a private school in the hopes of creating a diversion that would make it easier for them to rob a bank.

Lafayette police Cpl. Paul Mouton tells The Advocate ( http://bit.ly/oDOI5d) the plan failed after police quickly traced the call to a payphone outside a gas station.

Mouton says an officer in the area spotted two men near the phone and detained them until officers identified the men using surveillance video at the gas station.

Police arrested 57-year-old Michael Gott and 20-year-old Tony Younger Jr., both of New Iberia, on one count each of conspiracy to commit robbery and communication of false information of planned bombing on school property.

It was unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
