Police locate mother of wandering Alaska toddler

Anchorage, Alaska, police have located the mother of a toddler found wandering alone near a busy street.

Police spokesman Lt. David Parker tells the Anchorage Daily News (http://bit.ly/rhU0jq) that the woman was sleeping after taking medication when "the little guy was able to unlock the door" and leave their home.

Parker says the mother, Genesis Senquiz, was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Court records show she was sought for failing to appear in court on charges that included drunken driving as a minor.

Parker says the boy, about 18 months old, will remain with the Office of Children's Services while it investigates his escape. He says a police probe also continues.

Passersby spotted the toddler and flagged down an officer Wednesday afternoon. Hours later, Parker was doing a TV interview in the area when a man who said he was the boy's uncle drove up. He said the child lived two blocks away.
