ATLANTA (Reuters) - A parole board has denied a last-ditch request for clemency for a Georgia man set to be executed on Wednesday for the murder of a police officer.

Supporters of the condemned man, Troy Davis, say he may be innocent.

Amnesty International spokeswoman Laura Moye quoted lawyers for Davis as saying the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles denied clemency after a hearing on Monday.
