U.S. to charge 9 people in health-care services case

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Prosecutors in New Jersey plan to announce criminal charges against nine people, including high-level employees at Maxim Healthcare Services Inc, a person familiar with the matter said on Monday.

Maxim, a privately held company that provides home health-care services, has reached a settlement with U.S. authorities to resolve criminal and civil charges, the person said. The person was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

The pact with the company is a "nine-figure" settlement, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark, New Jersey, said in a media advisory. The office declined further comment on the case.

Maxim did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

According to its website, Maxim also provides medical staffing and wellness services nationwide. The Columbia, Maryland-based company was founded in 1988.
