Toll and fare hikes have been approved for bridges, tunnels and trains in the nation's largest metro area.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey approved the changes Friday. Drivers will pay $1.50 more to enter New York from New Jersey starting next month, up to $9.50.
Drivers without E-ZPass will pay $2 extra, up to $12 in September and topping off at $15 in December 2015. The $1.75 fare to ride the PATH trains between New Jersey and New York will increase 25 cents a year for four years.
The Port Authority's coffers have been drained by post-9/11 security, the economy and the complex rising at ground zero.
The governors of New York and New Jersey released a plan Thursday for smaller increases than proposed.
