A spokesman for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says construction of the company's new global headquarters in its hometown of Akron, Ohio, is on track.
Goodyear will lease the new headquarters until 2038 with options until 2093, and as part of a public and private financing deal agreed to stay in Akron for 25 years and keep 2,900 jobs in the city.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports Friday (http://bit.ly/qRIzoV) that the building's outer steel skeleton is being erected and should be done in a few months.
Company spokesman Scott Baughman says the project, which broke ground in April, is on schedule.
The project was announced four years ago but was delayed by financing problems amid the recession.
