New York City's Department of Sanitation says it's investigating how a salt-spreading truck crashed through the second-floor wall of a repair shop and was left dangling for hours.
Firefighters used a cherry-picker to rescue driver Robert Legall at the Queens garage and repair shop. The mechanic and 10-year sanitation veteran was hospitalized in stable condition.
A crane removed the truck cab-first on Wednesday.
The Department of Sanitation says the truck belongs to the Department of Correction and is used in winter to salt roads on Rikers Island, where the city's main jail complex is located. The truck was at the garage for off-season maintenance.
