SANTA FE, New Mexico (Reuters) - A New Mexico district judge who presided over criminal cases, including prostitution, is free on bond Wednesday after being charged with raping a prostitute, officials told Reuters.
Judge Albert "Pat" Murdoch was arrested Tuesday afternoon "for criminal penetration and one count of intimidation of a witness that resulted from an ongoing prostitution investigation," Albuquerque Deputy Police Chief Paul Feist told reporters.
Feist said a woman accused Murdoch of paying for sex with her on eight different occasions in Murdoch's home, and twice sexually assault her. She recorded their interactions on one occasion on a hidden camera, Feist said.
"We're still trying to determine if there were other people involved or other locations, he said.
Murdoch was held overnight in the Metropolitan detention center before being released Wednesday morning on $50,000 bond.
Murdoch was expected to appear in court on Thursday.
