Municipal flight disruption charge dropped in Ohio

A college student accused of disrupting a flight from Chicago to Germany will face charges only in federal court in Cleveland.

Municipal charges against 21-year-old Saleh Ali Alramakh of Akron were dismissed Wednesday, leaving only the federal case.

An FBI complaint says the disruption forced a pilot to make an emergency landing in Cleveland on a United Airlines flight Friday. Alramakh is accused of refusing to sit or turn off an electronic device and shoving a flight attendant.

He eventually was restrained by crew members and passengers.

His attorney says the defendant is a well-liked University of Akron scholarship student.
