Jury selection in NC nursing home killings

Jury selection has begun in the trial of a man accused of killing eight people and wounding three others at a North Carolina nursing home two years ago.

Forty-seven-year-old Robert Stewart could face the death penalty if convicted in the rampage. Prosecutors say Stewart in March 2009 was targeting his estranged wife, who worked at the Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center. He didn't find her and instead killed seven elderly residents and a nurse.

The jury was being picked Monday in Stanly County, about 60 miles west of where the trial will be held in Carthage in Moore County. Stewart's lawyers wanted the whole trial moved to a different county because of publicity.

Stewart faces eight counts of first-degree murder.
