Firefighters in Orange County are gaining the upper hand on a nearly 400-acre fire in Brea.
Fullerton Fire Chief Wolfgang Knabe said the fire was 70 percent contained Thursday night and was expected to be fully contained early Friday.
Firefighters focused on mopping up remaining hotspots after putting down flames near Olinda Village, a community of 250 homes, sparing residents from evacuation.
Earlier in the day the fire threatened cell phone towers and radio transmitters atop a hill.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
Two earlier one-acre fires in Los Angeles County, in Malibu and near Pinion Hills, were knocked down with no structures damaged.
