Japan's reconstruction minister says he will quit: report

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's newly-appointed reconstruction minister said he intends to resign after about a week in the job, Jiji agency reported on Tuesday, following criticism over insensitive remarks he made to governors of areas hit by the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March.

Ryu Matsumoto was appointed to the newly created post of reconstruction minister at the end of June and his quick resignation will add pressure on the government of unpopular Prime Minister Naoto Kan.
