In a story June 28, The Associated Press reported that a witness followed a Seattle Police Department cruiser as it drove with a department-issued rifle sitting on top of its trunk, then alerted the officer after the car had parked. Department spokesman Sean Whitcomb says that although the cruiser did drive some distance with the rifle on its trunk, the witness saw it only after the cruiser had parked.
