Engine problems force Continental flight's return

A Continental Airlines flight bound for San Diego had to return to Houston after the pilot reported engine problem.

Continental Airlines spokeswoman Julie King tells the Houston Chronicle that Flight 409 departed Bush Intercontinental Airport at 11:30 a.m. Sunday and was still ascending over Austin when the crew experienced the problem and decided to return to Houston.

King said the Boeing 737 jet landed about 1 p.m. without incident. None of the 149 passengers and six crew members were injured, and the travelers were put onboard another aircraft for the trip to San Diego.
