Five men from North Carolina have been rescued from a capsized boat near Cape Lookout after spending about 22 hours in the water.
The Coast Guard said the Fayetteville men were plucked from the water on Friday by a good Samaritan. Only one of the men was wearing a lifejacket and they survived by clinging to their boat.
The men left the New River Inlet on Thursday morning for a day of fishing.
The Coast Guard says their boat capsized when they went to retrieve their anchor as seas began to worsen. Family members contacted the Coast Guard on Friday after the group failed to return the night before.
The fishermen were found about 10 miles southwest of Cape Lookout and about 31 miles from their original location.
