OKLAHOMA CITY (Reuters) - Authorities temporarily closed part of Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport on Friday to allow a police bomb squad to investigate a suspicious package.
An unidentified caller notified the airport of the package in the baggage claim area about 9:30 a.m. local time and the police bomb squad was summoned, airport spokeswoman Karen Carney said.
Most of the airport remained closed at noon while authorities continued to investigate, she said.
Travelers and others were evacuated from the ticket lobby, baggage claim and the main concourse, while the west concourse remained open, Carney said.
The perimeter of the airport was cordoned off to prevent arriving travelers and motorists from entering the airport, she said.
