Authorities say a North Carolina husband and wife have been charged with murder in the fatal baseball-bat beating of a man who owed them money.
Investigators say the body of 31-year-old Angel Pesante-Ventura was found last September in a restricted area at Fort Bragg by a group of soldiers surveying a site for training. He had been dead about two weeks.
Fayetteville police say 33-year-old Jimmy Bailey of Fayetteville was arrested as he tried to board a train Friday and his wife, 33-year-old Ann Marie Bailey, turned herself in Saturday. They are both charged with first-degree murder.
They were being held Saturday in the Cumberland County jail and it wasn't immediately clear if either had an attorney.
