Las Vegas student faces aircraft threat charge

A 25-year-old college student accused of telling US Airways that her boyfriend would blow up a plane scheduled to fly out of Las Vegas last Sept. 11 has pleaded not guilty to a federal bomb hoax charge.

Miki Victoria Sudo wept before entering her plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas to a false information and hoaxes charge. A magistrate judge set trial for July 25.

Sudo's boyfriend was aboard the flight out of McCarran International Airport. He wasn't named or charged in the case. U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden says flight 399 to Phoenix returned to the Las Vegas airport and passengers and baggage were rescreened after the call. No explosive was found.

Sudo could face up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
