Court appearance set in Houston dismemberment case

A man accused of fatally shooting and dismembering a friend who shared a house with him is headed to court in Houston.

Noe Gerardo Morin is scheduled to appear Wednesday morning in a Harris County court. The 32-year-old is charged with murder in the death of Marlon Thomas.

The headless body of the 35-year-old Thomas was found outside a vacant Houston house. Police found his head and arm in a trash bag under a neighboring house, with a chain saw next to it. The Harris County medical examiner's office says he had been shot in the head before his body was dismembered.

Neighbors described Thomas and Morin as best friends for years and speculated a dispute over money or theft of property might have led to the slaying.
