Baltimore County police suspect foul play in the disappearance of a Russian woman who never made it to her relatives' Maryland home two months ago.
Police spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough said Tuesday that 54-year-old Yulia Pogrebenko (poh-GREH'-ben-KOH) arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Feb. 23 and rented a car to drive to a relative's home in Catonsville. The car was later found in the Baltimore area, but Pogrebenko hasn't been heard from since she called a relative to say she was an hour from Baltimore.
McCullough says foul play is suspected, but police don't want to compromise the investigation by saying why.
The Russian embassy says Pogrebenko, who is from Irkutsk (er-KOOKS'), was reported missing in Russia. A Ministry of Internal Affairs representative is working with Maryland investigators.
