Maryland authorities say charges are pending in a crash that overturned a bus carrying a kindergarten class on a Washington-bound field trip, injuring 17 people, including 10 children.
Maryland State Police say the bus with 35 people on board swerved when a Volkswagen SUV pulled into its path on Route 213 near Centreville in Queen Anne's County on Thursday morning.
Police say the bus had the right of way. It hit a utility pole and overturned.
The kindergarteners and chaperones from Worton Elementary School in Kent County were headed to the National Zoo.
One injured woman was flown to a Baltimore hospital. The others were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
Local prosecutors will determine what charges will be filed.
