President Barack Obama plans to meet with NATO's secretary general at the White House Friday.
Obama's meeting with Anders Fogh Rasmussen (AHN'-derz FOHG RAHS'-moo-sihn) comes as NATO enforces a no-fly zone in Libya to stop longtime leader Moammar Gadhafi (MOO'-ah-mar gah-DAH'-fee) from attacking civilians. NATO took over the mission from the U.S. in March.
The White House says Obama and Rasmussen will also discuss the NATO mission in Afghanistan. NATO wants to hand responsibility for security to Afghan forces by 2014.
The U.S. is slated to begin drawing down its forces in Afghanistan starting in July.
